STEVE CLARK

Steve’s career began at British Rail where he worked between 1977 and 1981. In 1979 he started a full time degree course which included a year out working with Geotechnical consultants, McClelland Ltd. After graduation in 1983 and following a short spell with McClelland Ltd he left to take up a position with Oxford City Council where he was employed as a Graduate Engineer, becoming responsible for small to medium sized, domestic and educational projects. In 1985 he moved to the West Midlands and joined Sandwell MBC where he continued his experience and progressed into the position of Project Engineer. Valuable experience was gained during this period working on projects in contaminated and brownfield sites as well as a period assessing building control submissions for large industrial and commercial projects.

In 1988 Steve moved to Bovis Homes Technical Services where he worked on the structural designs of the new house types, Apartment Blocks and special projects for Bovis Retirement Homes and High Rise developments in London. Whilst at Bovis Steve gained his Chartered Engineer Status in 1989.

Following the slow down in the construction industry in the early 1990’s Steve left Bovis, where the workload had tailed off, and started work on a self employed basis. From 1990 to 1995 Steve worked for a number of Consultants and Local Authorities employed as Project Engineer, supervising design teams on projects ranging from Public House refurbishments, School extensions to New Build Fire Stations, Schools and large commercial buildings.

In 1995 Steve joined Baker Hall Consultancy as a junior partner where he worked till 2000 when he left to work in London on a large international project. Returning to work in the Midlands he again worked as a self employed Engineer for Watermans and Sandwell MBC as well as his own projects. In April 2002 Steve joined Banners Gate as a Director of Structural Engineering.
